| Walk instructions are given from King George V DLR Station to West Silvertown DLR but there are other DLR stations on the route | The Royal Docks began as a speclative development in the 1850s. They were expanded with the opening of the Royal Albert Dock in 1880 and the construction of the King George V in 1912-21 by the PLA. After a prosperous period 1910-1950 they went into decline with the development of Tilbury and containerisation. Following closure in 1981 they came under the control of the London Docklands Development Corporation. |

| 4¾ miles, mainly path & pavement walking. The Transporter Bridge is high level reached by lift or stairs. | The walk
gives a good overview of the Royal Docks with industrial
remnants and new developments. The route includes a
number of parks. This walk can be combined with my Silvertown & North Woolwich route for a longer circular walk. |
