WEBSITE BUILDING

Resources used for this site

This site was built using Microsoft's FrontPage Express. FrontPage 2000 or 2002 have more features but I couldn't justify the cost of buying it for this project.

Bromley Adult Education [website] runs courses on website building. Students can join the Learning Centres at the Widmore Road & Kentwood sites entitling them to use its computer resources.

The book 'Easy Web Pages' published by Que covers all aspects of website building and is fully illustrated. However it is specifically for Frontpage Express.

This site is hosted by Supanames. Their value package with 35MB of space and 1 e-mail account costs £32.88 for 2 years including a co.uk domain name registration. There are no banners or pop-ups and customer support is available. For details of this and other packages visit their website.

A number of my photographs are stored by Photobox. Their free service offers 200MB of space to upload images. These can be put into albums for private, shared or public access. They can supply prints and many other items from stored images. Visit their website for full details.

Most photos on the site are mine including all the Gallery photos but I have downloaded some extra pictures from Freefoto. Images for this site were initially edited using Adobe PhotoDeluxe 2.0. I now use a digital camera which makes it easier and quicker to put pictures onto the site. It came with Arcsoft PhotoImpression software which offers a number of facilities.

I haven't made much use of them on this site but there is a good selection of banners on BannerzRus. You can add text and images online or download them into an imaging programme.

Backgrounds were obtained from aaabackgrounds which has a choice of 2000 backgrounds and textures sorted into categories and colours. Free to use and easy to download.

The majority of my animated gifs, including the very appropriate footprints, came from animatedgif. Lots of images well categorised. Free in return for a link back. Other clip art images come from coolclips which has a fantastic (searchable) selection.

The maps in the walks section are provided by Streetmap.
