It is a rather daunting place at first so it is a good idea to attend the 'New to Kew' session held daily at 11:30am. There is also a guidebook 'The National Archives' by Stella Colwell (sold for £8.99 in the shop). The catalogue of records held can be viewed and items pre-ordered on the website which also has lots of other features. The useful Research Guides cover a variety of topics.
There is programme of talks and some special events (free mailing list). Tickets for the (free) talks are available on the day and cannot be pre-booked. There is also a Friends organisation.
The building is situated in an attractive park with picnic facilities. Parking is available for users (charge).© london-footprints.co.uk 2010
